About Kensington Palace

A palace of secret stories and public lives, Kensington Palace, situated in beautiful parkland in the centre of London was designed as a royal residence for William III & Mary II by Sir Christopher Wren.

More recently it has been the official residence to Princess Margaret, Diana, Princess Of Wales, and the home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family.
A visit reveals the surprising stories of many of the palace’s inhabitants over the centuries.

Important information

Toilets are available The palace cafe and Kensington Palace Pavilion Restaurant and Tea Room are open. You can enter both without a palace admissions ticket.

The Kensington Palace Shop is located near to the cafe and open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 - 18:00. Last Entry is 17:45. You can enter the shop without a palace admission ticket.

You are welcome to take non-commercial photographs (without the use of a flash) within the palace in most cases. Some items or imagery may be prohibited from being photographed and this will be clearly signposted.

Disabled Access Kensington Palace has ground-level access from Kensington Gardens. All three floors of the palace are accessible by lift.
